Julian Sampson talks to Salon Smart Glasgow
Note: an excerpt from Salon Smart's press coverage:
When 120 salon owners from Scotland and the North of England gathered at the Marriott Hotel for Salon Smart Glasgow, they were treated to a packed day of inspirational speakers and business workshops, not to mention a chance to network with fellow salon owners!
We got straight down to business at 9.30am with an enlightening talk by Julian Sampson (from London-based Wright & Wright solicitors) and Scott McDermott (from Edinburgh and Glasgow-based Morisons solicitors) about the oh-so-essential legal ins and outs of recruiting and retaining staff!.
Carole Taylor from ClientWave was up to next to share her tips on building a web site that actively attracts new clients every day, before Amanda Baines from coaching company Gholdenphish shared her no-nonsense guide to dealing with everyone’s favourite gripe – difficult people!
A coffee gave delegates a chance to mingle and to learn about Goldwell and KMS California’s latest products and promotions! Then it was time for the first workshop of the day, with delegates attending a Hair Tools demonstration (of its new vibrating Vibe straightener!) or Matsuzaki’s showcase of is latest scissors and education programmes.
The audience was all ears for KMS’s Salon Fixer Cory Couts, who shared his unique and compelling advice on how to build profits and solve salon challenges.
Over a delicious lunch, Anne Veck and Angela Lowery demonstrated the American Dream’s Clip-In Extensions on their stunning models. The audience clamoured to ask how they could introduce the colour-boosting service in their salons!
After lunch, the lively Brainstorm session saw audience members sharing their business dilemmas with our panel of experts, and Fife Salon Owner Dom Migele delivered a masterclass on boosting retail business.
There was a real buzz in the air as hairdressing legend Trevor Sorbie took to the stage to talk about his My New Hair programme, which helps hairdressers around the country cut and customise wigs for cancer and alopecia patients. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house! As one delegate told Creative HEAD: “I could have happily stayed there all night listening to Trevor!”
Delegates left brimming with exciting new ideas, and many asked: “When can we come again?”
